Good luck with the game. It used to be much easier before witcher got it's weight in patches. But it's still fun and addicting! As a side note, I love how when you are looking down at the dice board, you can sort of still feel you're actually sitting right there because the setting changes to reflect where you are.

Yep, I concur with everyone else here - pairs and threes is the way to go. If you've got a pair or a three, keep them and only throw whatever's left on your second go.
Those odds drop a bit once you get to Act III, but that's to be expected - after all, you're playing with the real big-shots by then! The dice game in The Witcher is totally obnoxious. Considering what a phenomenal game The Witcher is, and further considering how engrossing the graphics and sound of the dice game are, it comes as a huge disappointment that the game is rigged. In my latest playthrough I've won 5 out of over thirty dice matches.
I do not save prior to gambling. I find it completely obnoxious whenever a game encourages compulsive saving. It would be really nice if any of the superb patching of The Witcher had addressed the rigged nature of dice poker in any way. Dialog mentioning that certain players have rigged dice, quest based options to defeat cheating perhaps holding a public match to expose the cheater or to acquire rigged dice of one's own would be welcome additions to dice poker.
That, or they could just make the game play fair. Iam now in the beginning of chapter 2 in the witcher and have orens and thats after forging my sword in chapter one.
I have no interest what so ever in doing dice poker games, when I could be doing quests and looking for herbs. And going forward with the story,, of this truly excellent game. Can I just miss out the poker games? Guest Guest 11 Jul 23, You do get some experience for finishing a level of poker playing, such as moving from Novice to Professional or Professional to Sharper.
Moving the mouse when rolling influences the direction the dice will roll and how strong the throw will be. Poker dice is a game that allows people to play a form of poker without having cards. The way it works is that each player rolls 3 times and the best hand wins. The reason I think this may be the reason dice are included in poker sets is because it exactly requires 5 dice. Those looking for a decent chipset that functions well would do well to purchase some of these.
A step up from composite and clay chips, ceramic chips have a smoother surface, better quality, and a hardier durability. These chips also slide well across a poker felt and make chip tricks even easier than clay composite. All clay poker chips have some percentage of composite materials in them.
Novice: play with Mikul ,Odo, Haren You only need to win once against certain players to finish the quest. I always keep the highest number normally six so that you have a higher chance of getting a six. If you have nothing, the opponent has three of a kind, it might be a good idea to roll for a straigt. That's a great tip. Unfortunately, I finished chapter 1 already before knowing those three are novices.
So is there anyway I could still finish that quest? Prospero View Profile View Posts. Originally posted by WhatTheFunk! Last edited by Prospero ; 2 May, pm. Loxias View Profile View Posts. The dice poker minigame is very poorly designed in this game anyway. The npc always gets to act last and therefore has a fairly huge information advantage.
In poker terms this is called being 'in position'. They should have let you roll a dice to determine who starts the first round and then rotate.
As it stands this game is basically rigged against the player, so it's not really surprising you keep losing. If, at the end of the round, two or more players are tied to win, then those players should roll their turns again until a clear winner is established. Note: Straights do not count, and since there are no suits, there can be no flush.
In this simple little dice game, your goal is to roll the best possible poker hand. How do you play Poker Dice? How do you score?
