Isaiah So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts 2 Peter Two stars, one still shining, one fallen: This is the picture of Jesus versus Satan. Satan was a star, but his light has been extinguished. Jesus is the star. Although he was killed, he rose again and resumed his place in the heavens.
His light was extinguished for a short season, but ultimately could not be put out. Many of the descriptors, which give us a picture of Christ reflect our limited imaginations and are given to us because we understand them. They relate to the world as we know it because we cannot comprehend God fully. Can you discover the limits of the Almighty?
Imagery helps us to visualize the invisible spiritual battle. A single image can possess multiple meanings. Water is both an image of destruction and of salvation in the Bible. Satan and Jesus are each referred to as a Star of Morning or Day Star, but the contrast between them could not be more profound.
Scripture frequently reinforces a point using contrast. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth? For the Lord will have compassion on Jacob and will again choose Israel, and will set them in their own land, and sojourners will join them and will attach themselves to the house of Jacob. And the peoples will take them and bring them to their place, and the house of Israel will possess them in the Lord 's land as male and female slaves. They will take captive those who were their captors, and rule over those who oppressed them.
The Lord has broken the staff of the wicked, the scepter of rulers, The ox knows its owner, and the donkey its master's crib, but Israel does not know, my people do not understand. They have forsaken the Lord , they have despised the Holy One of Israel, they are utterly estranged. Why will you still be struck down? Why will you continue to rebel? The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near: a star shall come out of Jacob, and a scepter shall rise out of Israel; it shall crush the forehead of Moab and break down all the sons of Sheth.
And if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.
Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! Over such the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him for a thousand years. Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands.
They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and jewels and pearls, holding in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of her sexual immorality.
Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place.
He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw.
Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near. John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood We are in the kingdom now Col.

This imagery might be stronger than that referring to Mary as Morning Star. But whether or not the imagery is strong, the title has its roots in a prominent place: Sacred Scripture. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.
The imagery comes from eschatology. More specifically, Lucifer is referred to as a morning star. Admittedly, this one is a little trickier but has some basis in Scripture.
To see Lucifer as the Morning Star, we actually have to go to a non-Catholic translation. The verse is Isaiah How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low! Hence we get Lucifer as a name, which is how it was presented in the Vulgate Latin translation.
What the authors of the Sacred Scriptures do is to provide us descriptions of his behavior, of his fallen state, and of his motives.
